Today we have Catherine from Wish Flower Designs.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself:  My name is Catherine Muzzatti, and I live in Columbia, MD with my Husband and two daughters.

2. When did you start your biz?
I finally decided to take the plunge in opening my shop this past March.

3. Why did you start your biz?

I started Wish Flower Designs because I truly love making girls clothing, and my girls closets were getting way too full! I am a big believer in buying quality items over cheap ones, and when I first started shopping for my girls I noticed many of the stores out there didn’t offer high quality clothing. So I decided to make it myself!  After friends telling me again and again that I should sell my stuff, I decided to go for it and I haven’t regretted the decision since!

4. What do you find most rewarding about owning your own biz?

There are so many perks to owning your own business-but what I find the most rewarding is that I am able pursue a passion of mine while giving something special to others. It’s amazing knowing that little ones are running around wearing the clothes I’ve made especially for them!

5. What do you find most frustrating about owning your own biz?

Since I have just started my shop I am still working my full time job…and on top of that I have two little girls to entertain! Finding the time to manage all of these things at once can be difficult at times!

6. If you could go back to before you started your biz and tell yourself something, what would you say?

If I could go back in time, I would most definitely tell myself to have courage and go for it-don’t waste time thinking about it too much.  It will all fall into place!

7. Do you have kids? If so, do you find it easy to work with them? What tips could you give to balancing work and play with them?

As I stated before, I have two lovely little girls, ages 4 (Olivia) and 20 months (Lea).  I try hard to limit the amount of time I sew with them around, which leads to a lot of late night sewing! Since the room I sew in was once the baby room I still have plenty of toys in there for them to play with. So if it happens to be a time where I need to get some work done they have the option of playing right beside me.  Olivia loves to play “sewing” at the same time that I sew, and if Lea could get her little hands on all those needles, she would be in heaven!

8. Are you a full time biz owner or do you work outside the home? Any tips on balancing a full/part time job with your biz?

At this point in time, I am still working outside the home.  I’m a Director for an after school program so I luckily  don’t have a high-stress job. the best advice I can give others trying to balance both would be to stay ORGANIZED! Juggling that many commitments can be tough : ) Just remember to make sure to find some time for yourself in all of it-luckily for me, sewing is that me time I crave!

9. What do you want to gain from your biz? Where do you see yourself? Ultimate goal?

I absolutely love making kids clothing, and hope to be able to support myself off of my business one day. My ultimate goal would be to one day have a small storefront to sell all of my wonderful creations at!
